Announcements / Comments
Question #293 for conversation: QSO One application: runs under Windows or Android and gives access to ham radio digital networks (All-Star, Echolink, DMR, etc.)… Have you used it? What do you think about it?
(If interested in submitting a weekly question, email n5zkf@arrl.net)
Brian Gaskamp (N5WCT)
- Brief recap of TX QSO Party
- Thanks to all who contacted me on 40 m Saturday/Sunday
- Lots of contacts on 2 m and 70 cm simplex, too
- Only operated 16 hours
- Last year: 155 contacts, unknown counties
- This year: 359 contacts, 71/285 counties, 82K points, 1st or 2nd place!
- Looking forward to next year!
John Graesser (KC5DWD)
- QSO-1 app: started to set it up, but didn’t want to give it too much information
- Was asking for passwords, etc.
- N5ZKF: assume it needs credentials to act on your behalf
- Definitely be judicious about who you give your info to
Bill Rose (K5WTR)
- Haven’t heard Dick Zimmer (W5DZ) on the air recently… Is he OK?
- N5ZKF: did check in once in the last several weeks
- Doesn’t check in as often as he used to
- Heard 20:00 conflicts with another event (favorite TV show)
Ron Estes (KJ5EFO)
- W5DZ is doing well
- While at CEOC, Mike Wisby (KA5HIA) said he spoke with him recently and all was good
- ARES update
- Thanks to all who came to the meeting last night
- Exercised American Red Cross radios
- CEOC meeting this Friday 09:00
- Check out WhatsApp group for info about upcoming events
Phil Gates (N5ZKF)
- Heard about QSO One app recently, early in its development
- Spent a little time playing with it
- Needs some more development, but is usable
- It does request a bit of info from you and wants to authenticate you
- Single console (“pane of glass”) that permits so many ham radio digital networks from Windows/Android device
- No radio hardware required
- Available on Google Play app store
- Lots of info available at your fingertips
- Seems like a very interesting tool
Buy / Sell
Michael Bobinski (N5NYL)
- Anyone in the club going to Belton Hamfest?
- Would be interested in sharing the cost of a seller table
- Have several items that I’m trying to sell.
- See, e.g., 2026-07-28 Minutes
- Good on QRZ
Closing Remarks

- D-STAR repeater on 443.400 MHz (KI5MMC)
