- I do have a NOAA radio
- Wind-up, solar-powered, multi-mode (FM Radio) etc.
- 162.550 MHz for our area: https://www.weather.gov/nwr/sites?site=WXK30
Matthew Barry (KG5LYE)
- no purpose-built NOAA weather radio
- I have a scanner that can receive NOAA weather channels
- Some of my ham radios can receive those frequencies (saved for reference)
Larry Shiver (KJ5KFU)
- Keep weather radios on out here in the country
- Not much coverage out in the middle of nowhere
- One tuned to Ft. Worth, one to Houston
Ken Wilson (KE5DFR)
- Keep an all-alert weather radio with RV
- Great to hear what’s going on around when traveling or in an unfamiliar area
David Bailey (K5DKB)
- I have an older model from 1980 that used to belong to my grandfather
- Only 3 frequency selections: Everywhere I’ve ever lived has been covered by one of these channels
- “Silent mode” that only turns on when alert is active
- Keep it on my mantle to let me know when storms are coming
Phil Gates (N5ZKF)
- I have many receivers capable of receiving alets:
- some NOAA radios
- some ham radios with capability
- general purpose scanners can pick up frequencies too
- Used to keep one at the office when I worked for the University
